Stephen N. DiLeo

Author, student, and instructor, Stephen DiLeo has been a significant part of the warrior community in Central Pennsylvania for over 35 years.
Mr. DiLeo is a 1982 Suma Cumae Laudi graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He holds a professional designation of a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Mr. DiLeo has worked as an auditor, systems analyst, and a financial director prior to pursuing martial arts and professional writing.
Master Stephen DiLeo began his martial arts training in 1979 and attained his First Degree black belt in 1982, under John C. Miller. Later that year, he also attained a First Degree black belt in Tang Soo-Do under the United States Tang Soo-Do Federation. In 1989, Master DiLeo successfully tested for Second Degree black belt under the American Tae Kwon-Do Association. In 1994, Mr. DiLeo attained his Third Degree black belt under Mr. Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and finally, in 1998, he tested for his Fourth Degree Master rank under the International Zen Do-Kai Federation. In 2002, Master DiLeo was selected as the AAU Chairman for the Western Pennsylvania region.
In 1988, Stephen co-founded the Altoona Academy of Tae Kwon-Do, along with his wife Lucy, and his long-time instructor, Master Robert Bender. The Academy is located in Altoona, PA and is home to over 200 students, 11 assistant instructors, and twelve master instructors, as well as two Fifth Degree black belts. Over his school's 20 year history, he has trained hundreds of students and successfully tested over 300 advanced rank black belts. Master DiLeo is a senior instructor responsible for program development and advanced rank instruction at the AATKD.
Stephen is also co-promoter of the Altoona Academy Classics semi-annual open Karate tournament. He has trained with some of the most notable instructors in the world, including: Professor Wally Jay, Master Tak Kubota, Mr. Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Grandmaster C.S. Kim, and Higan Machado. In 1998, Master DiLeo was a guest instructor at the 25th annual Zen Do-Kai summer camp, in New York.
Mr. DiLeo is a successful freelance journalist who has been published numerous times in a number of major magazines, primarily martial arts and military publications. In 2009, Master DiLeo was named a columnist for Fighters Magazine and Combat Magazine in the United Kingdom; and in 2010, he became a columnist for TaeKwonDo Times Magazine. Prior to pursuing his own magazine, Warriors Magazine, he contributed regularly to a number of national and international publications.
Master Stephen DiLeo has traveled all over the country to interview famous fighters such as former UFC Champion, Randy "The Natural" Couture, current UFC Lightweight Champion, Eddie Alvarez, and Blackzilian's fighter Danillo Villefort.
Steve is actively involved in fundraisers for United States Veterans in Central, PA.
